ASSISTANT CITY ENGINEER

Salary Range: $70,000.00 to $85,000.00 DOQ
 
ENGINEER  Highly responsible professional engineering work, providing expertise in the programming, design and maintenance of City infrastructure and facilities.
Assists in the management, planning and direction of the Engineering, Streets, Stormwater and Traffic Divisions. Responsibilities encompass varied aspects of engineering, project management, development review, surveying, geographic information systems (GIS), regulatory agency relations and records management. Ensures City’s compliance with all applicable engineering standards, regulations and codes. Performs duties consistent with customer service excellence.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related science and a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible, highly relevant experience in engineering, design, permitting, construction contract management and inspection, maintenance of streets, drainage systems, water and sewer facilities and other municipal facilities. Relevant experience should include strength in some of the following areas: project or construction management, CIP coordination, development review, streets, stormwater, and traffic engineering. Preferred experience will also include the design, permitting, construction contract management and construction inspection necessary to resolve traffic and streets issues, such as pavement condition assessments.

Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) by the State of Florida required. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.

GROUNDSKEEPER I

Minimum: $10.22 Hr.
  
PARKS  Valid FL Driver's License.  Semi-skilled and manual work in maintaining various grounds, fields, and parks by performing mowing, weeding, etc. Some experience in landscaping and irrigation helpful. Works in various weather conditions at heights to 15 ft. Works with insecticides/herbicides.
     
GROUNDSKEEPER II
(LANDSCAPE CREW)

Minimum: $11.02 Hr.
 PARKS H.S. /GED. Class B FL CDL. 2 yrs. experience in landscaping and irrigation. Functions as lead worker, skilled in operation and preventative maintenance of equipment and related tools. Skilled and manual lead work in maintaining various grounds, fields and facilities. Works outside in various weather conditions and at heights up to 15 ft. Works with insecticides/herbicides.

H.S. /GED.  One (1) year experience in library, elementary, child care facility, etc., instructional work. Ability to gain and apply standard library administrative methods and practices. Ability to type 30 wpm. Assists with youth programming and promotional activities. Provides circulation services to the public and maintains orderly flow of returned materials. Responsible for the search, recovery and processing of library materials on hold. Assists with the ordering, receipt and processing of new materials. Excellent oral and written communication skills a must. Some evening and/or weekend work may be required.

 GENERAL SERVICES H.S/GEDValid Fl Driver’s License2 yrs experience in one or more of the construction trades. Semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of municipal properties and related facilities.  Limited skilled work in general maintenance, construction, plumbing, carpentry, painting  and electrical work.  Ability to prepare and maintain records, operate maintenance tools /machinery, and equipment.  Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.  Works in various weather conditions.
     
MAINTENANCE MECHANIC I

 UTILITIES MAINTENANCE H.S. /GED. Valid FL Driver’s License. 1 yr. experience or training related to mechanical and electrical projects. Assist crew leader with the maintenance and repair of lift station and/or wells. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical tools. Works in various weather conditions and at heights over 150 feet. Must obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months.

 UTILITIES MAINTENANCE H.S. /GED. Class B FL CDL. 3 yrs. experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy machinery and the control systems. Assist crew leader in the maintenance and repair of lift stations, wells, reuse, and the waste water treatment plant projects. Ability and knowledge to work safely around high voltage with supervision up to 480v. Ability to read blue prints and ladder logic diagrams. Must qualify for after hour call duty.
     

MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST I

UTILITIES MAINTENANCE  H.S. /GED. Class B FL CDL.  General mechanical ability for the installation and repairs associated with water collection and distribution systems.  Able to operate maintenance tools and other equipment.  Ability to lift 50 lbs.  Works in various weather conditions.   Will be required to obtain a Class B CDL with tanker and air brake endorsement and qualify for on-call duty.
   
STORMWATER OPERATOR II

H.S./GED. Class B Florida CDL, Class C Stormwater License2yrs. experience in medium/heavy equipment operation. Responsible work in maintaining and repairing stormwater drainage system, streets, and rights-of-way.  Ability to prepare and maintain records, as well as lead the work crew.  Will be required to qualify for on-call duty.

PROPERTY CONTROL CLERK

 UTILITIES MAINTENANCE H.S. /GED. Valid FL Driver’s License. 5 yrs. experience in inventory, computer operation and certain proprietary software. Responsible for the inventory, ordering, tracking, purchase order processing and stocking of inventory items utilized in the repairs to the City’s water and sanitary sewer system. Extensive computer and bar code knowledge. Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
     
REFUSE COLLECTOR

 SANITATION Valid State Identification. Heavy manual labour work in the collection and disposal of refuse. Physical strength, stamina and ability to perform lifting, loading, bending, and other manual work. Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. Works in various weather conditions.

 POLICE H.S. /GED. 1 yr. experience in general clerical work or telephone operation required. Able to make independent judgments concerning life threatening situations; excellent oral communications a must; ability to receive calls/complaints concerning emergency service and record them. Weekend, holiday and rotating shift work required. Ability to type 30 wpm required.

 UTILITIES OPERATIONS   

H.S./GEDValid Fl Driver’s License.  Trains in water treatment facilities, leading to certification by the State of Florida as a Certified Operator.  Assists licensed operators in all plant duties.  Ability to record data, perform lab tests.  Collects water and wastewater samples and conducts operational control tests.  Laboratory experience helpful. Good mechanical skills.  Job requires shift work for continuous coverage of the water and wastewater plants.  Must obtain a Class “C” Wastewater License within 2 years.
     
PLANT OPERATOR II

Minimum: $13.89 Hr.

 UTILITIES OPERATIONS H.S./GED. Valid Fl Driver’s License. 1 yr experience in plant operations.  Must have a class “C” Water OR Wastewater Operations License.  Ability to record data, perform lab tests.  Collects water and wastewater samples and conducts operational control tests.  Monitors control panels and adjusts valves.  Records meter and gauge readings.  If Certified Operator not available, trainee candidate and single license holders will be considered. Laboratory experience helpful.  Job requires shift work for continuous coverage of the water and wastewater plants.
     
PLANT OPERATOR III

Minimum: $14.99 Hr.

UTILITIES OPERATIONS  H.S./GED. Valid Fl Driver’s License. Minimum 2 yrs. experience in plant operations.  Must possess a Class “C” Water Plant Operations License AND  a Class “C” Wastewater Plant Operations License.  Advanced knowledge of water treatment, wastewater treatment, and reclaimed water plant operations, policies, procedures, and methods. Manual and mechanical work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility in connection with water/ wastewater plant operations, as a licensed plant operator.  Ability to record data, perform lab tests. Collects water and wastewater samples and conducts operational control tests.  Monitors control panels and adjusts valves.  Records meter and gauge readings.  Job requires shift work for continuous coverage of the water/wastewater plants.
