After School Program

Keeping youths busy during out of school time is important, and the After School Program is a great way for your child to have supervised, productive activities after school.

Program Registration
Registration for the 2015-2016 After School Program will start on July 20, 2015.
  • Currently offered at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center
  • Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Geared for youths ages 5-13
  • Open school days from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Program Details

Program consists of:
  • Power Hour homework time from 2:30 to 3:30.
  • Healthy Habits / Exercise Program discussions about healthy foods and living a healthy lifestyle, followed by a daily 30-45 minute session of Tae Bo cardio training, aerobics and team games.
  • Tutoring is available through a partnership with Kaleidoscope Kids and HOPE. Children may qualify for free tutoring if they receive free or reduced cost school lunch and attend a Title 1 school.
  • Computer Lab is available for youths to learn about computers, applications, input devices, output devices, software and more, using software to help with math, FCAT, phonics and language skills.
  • Kid’s Café provides a hot balanced meal at the end of each session.
  • Cost: only $150 per child per 18 week semester.
  • Transportation is available from select area schools for an additional $25 per semester.
